V8 Green Juice To Boost Your Immune System

It is a well known fact that vegetables are chalk-full of much needed vitamins and minerals. They provide us with a healthy low-calorie food source, make for great main and side dishes, but most importantly, offer a ton of nutrients that help our body fight colds, flus, and diseases. They could be consider the most important food group of all. Why else do parents insist their children clean their plates of all the produce? Have you ever heard a parent make their kid stay at the table until their dessert was finished? It’s a yummy thought though, don’t you think? However, even as a grownup, getting in all of our veggies on a regular basis is not always convenience. To be completely honest, sometimes it’s that we just get tired of chewing all of the recommended assorted colors of vegetable we are expected to get in each day. Makes your jaw cramp.

If you can’t eat it…drink it.

Green juices have become the rage lately for many reasons, but the most useful reason is you can get a lot of ingredients in one glass. Enter, Keep Your Glow’s version of the V8 drink. Did you know 8 stands for eight vegetables? That one went over my head until I became a nutritionist, I couldn’t imagine putting anything with tomatoes near my lips before then. With this version of the V8 you’ll love the fresh, slightly spicy tasty and yes, there’s even tomatoes in it. I found that roasting them before helped them have a more subtle flavor.

Drink your veggies….boost your immune system

Play with the recipes and use seasonal ingredients or make it a V10. The sky is the limit. Enjoy!

Keep Your Glow's V8 Immune System Boost Juice
Makes 2 servings
250 calories per serving

1 cup roasted tomatoes
1 cup chopped kale
1 cup spinach
1 cup romaine lettuce
1/2 cup parsley
2 celery stalks
1 carrot, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper
Add hot sauce to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup coconut water
1 cup filtered water

Blend all of the ingredients until smooth. Pour half of the juice over ice to 
drink immediately, and place the leftovers in a sealed, glass container to be 
enjoyed within 3 days.
